While it’s not essential to whitelist our platform’s IP address for accessing our portal or API endpoints, doing so can help you avoid common firewall and network security issues that may arise in your IT environment.
When to Whitelist our IP Address?
API Testing
Suppose you’re testing integration with a third-party API endpoint and know that some of your tests will result in various HTTP errors from malformed URLs or misconfigurations. In that case, whitelisting our IP can prevent requests from our server from being blocked by the hosting service’s firewall.
Services like Make.com and Zapier allow you to whitelist IP addresses that you use to connect to their services, enabling you to test more freely without getting blocked. If you’re having difficulty communicating with a third-party API endpoint from our environment, then it would be a good idea to whitelist our IP with that service to eliminate any firewall issues as the cause of this issue.
Company Firewall Rules
If your IT department enforces strict firewall rules to protect your company’s IT environment, whitelisting our IP can help avoid scenarios where your company firewall blocks our servers for whatever reason.
Cloud Server IP Addresses
For any incoming connections from our servers to yours, please instruct your IT team to whitelist the below IPs (depending on where your account is hosted) to ensure reliable connectivity through corporate firewalls.
You can tell where your account is hosted by looking at the web address of your portal login.
All cloud services run behind IP addresses:
Email IP Addresses
We currently use SendGrid as our email provider for all emails (regardless of hosting location) sent from our platform (user invite emails, email connectors, etc.).
All emails are currently sent through a single shared IP address:
- 167.89.59.142
We recommend adding this IP address to your whitelist email filter rules and network controls.
If you are generating emails from our platform using your domain as the “From” sender, then ensure you review our documentation on how to set up an SPF rule to enhance deliverability.
VPN Access to our Servers
While your company may utilize a VPN (Virtual Private Network) for internal network communications, you can’t access our servers integrated into your VPN.
If you want to strictly control who can access our web portal or API endpoints from your network, you can use our IP whitelisting feature. This feature allows you to specify an individual IP address or a range of IP addresses that will be explicitly granted access to our environment.
If all of your users use a VPN, then this IP will be the shared public IP of your VPN environment.
