Configuring Proxies and Whitelisting for Offline Environments

Configuring Proxies and Whitelisting for Offline Environments

If your organization operates in a secure facility with limited or no direct internet connectivity, you can still use our platform to capture and sync data. By routing traffic through a secure proxy server, your tablets and devices can safely communicate with our servers.

This guide covers the technical requirements your IT department needs to configure to allow data syncing through a proxy.

Architecture Overview

To successfully sync data from a disconnected environment, your local devices must connect to your internal secure proxy, which then routes outbound data to our cloud platform.

Technical Requirements

As long as your internal proxy allows outbound connections to our platform, data syncing will function normally. Your network administration team will need to apply the following configurations:

1. Network & Port Configuration

  • Direction: Outbound traffic must be permitted.
  • Port: 443 (HTTPS) must be open for secure data transmission.

2. Proxy SSL Settings

  • Protocol: Configure your proxy server for SSL Pass-Through.
  • Why this matters: SSL Pass-Through ensures that the end-to-end encryption between the mobile app and our servers remains intact, preventing data tampering and maintaining strict compliance standards.

3. IP Whitelisting

Because your facility lacks a standard open network connection, you will need to explicitly whitelist our server destinations.

  • Action Required: Your IT team must whitelist our specific server IP addresses and domain URLs within your proxy/firewall settings.
  • Where to find them: Cloud platform IP addresses (firewall whitelisting)
If you’re not sure, please contact our Support Team to receive the most up-to-date list of static IP addresses and domains dedicated to your region.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can we sync data completely offline?

Yes. Our mobile app allows users to collect data and fill out forms entirely offline. The data is saved securely on the device’s local storage. Once the device connects to your configured secure proxy, it will automatically sync the cached data back to the main office.

Do we need a custom URL for our devices?

No custom URL is required for the application itself, but your network must allow access to our standard platform URLs. Ensure these are added to your proxy’s allowlist alongside the server IPs.
