Connecting to OneDrive for Business

Connecting to OneDrive for Business

MS Graph Connections Preferred

We highly recommend connecting your Microsoft services using the Microsoft Graph integration. As the unified gateway to Microsoft 365, a single MS Graph connection securely authenticates SharePoint, OneDrive, and Excel simultaneously, while fully supporting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to keep your data safe.

Before you can successfully push form-captured data and documents to your Microsoft OneDrive for Business account. You’ll need to authorize a connection by following the steps in this article.

If you are using a personal account, please see our “Connecting to OneDrive Personal” article.

Not sure which OneDrive account you have?

The easiest way to tell is to look at your sign-in screen:

  • Personal accounts usually ask for a “Microsoft account.”
  • Business accounts usually show your company’s logo or a “Work or school account” prompt.

Before You Begin: The “Admin Consent” Check

Unlike personal accounts, many organization accounts have security policies that prevent third-party apps from connecting without permission.

  • Check your permissions: If you see a “Need Admin Approval” message during setup, you will need to contact your IT Department.
  • The fix: Ask them to “Grant Admin Consent” for our platform in the Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) portal.

Adding & Authenticating the Connection

Follow these steps to link your organization’s account:

  1. Navigate to Data Hub > Connections.
  2. Click Add Connection on the top right.
  3. Select the OneDrive for Business option.
  4. Enter the required details: Library URLUser Email, and Password.
DetailDescription
Library URLYour Library URL is the root location of your OneDrive user storage.

To find your Library URL:
1. Log in to Office 365 using your target user account.
2. Browse to OneDrive via the Office 365 apps list
3. Copy the URL from your browser address bar.

e.g. https://xxx-my.sharepoint.com/personal/yyy/_layouts/1/onedrive.aspx
User EmailYour designated OneDrive for Business user name/email.
All interactions between our platform and OneDrive will occur within this user’s OneDrive storage space.

We recommend setting up a dedicated Office 365 user for platform use—avoid using a personal or admin account.
PasswordPassword of your OneDrive for Business user account.

Once you’ve entered the required details correctly and saved, your connection should authenticate.

Configuring Your Storage

Because Business accounts are structured differently, you have more options for where your data lands:

  • Individual OneDrive: Save files to your personal “My Files” area within the organization.
  • Shared Libraries (SharePoint): If enabled, you can save form submissions directly into a Team or Department SharePoint folder.

Troubleshooting Business Connections

Error MessageMeaningSolution
“Need Admin Approval”Your IT policy blocks new apps.Send the “Admin Consent” request to your IT team.
“Site Not Found”SharePoint URL issues.Ensure the user connecting the account has “Member” or “Owner” access to that specific Site.
“Tenant Restriction”Cross-tenant block.Your organization does not allow data to be sent outside of your specific region or “tenant.”

Most issues you might encounter will likely relate to access permissions on your account or to using a OneDrive Personal account with a OneDrive for Business connector.

Here are a few troubleshooting questions to ask yourself if you cannot get this working.

Am I using the correct Office 365 target user account?

As stated above, under the “User Email” field, it’s best to create a dedicated account to link to our platform.

Have I adequately set the account permissions? (SharePoint or Azure/Entra)

Check the respective knowledge base guides for details on setting up SharePoint or MS Graph connections, and ensure you’ve configured them properly if you use these services.

Am I using the correct URL for my library URL? (OneDrive for Business)

The URL could point to sharepoint.com, microsoft.com, or another Microsoft service. Ensure you have copied the URL correctly and that there are no spaces or gaps anywhere in it.
