Folders are available on the platform’s Screens, Docs, and Data Sources areas. Editing a Folder’s settings is the same for all.

When viewing folders and hovering over them, a gear or lock icon will appear. Clicking on this icon will open the folder’s settings.
- Cog (appears on the right of the folder when hovered over)
- Lock (Indicating ‘Restrict User Access’ applied)

| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The folder’s name that’s visible throughout the platform. |
| External ID | Optional. Useful for API integrations. |
| Restrict User Access | By default, Folder contents are visible to all users. Use this option to control which app and web users can see the contents of this Folder. This lets you deliver specific content to different groups of users – e.g. only show Maintenance screens to users in that department. IMPORTANT NOTE: Enabling this option will cause the system to apply stricter access rules to ALL content. As a result, the app and web platform will only display content that is assigned to at least one Folder. Content that does not belong to a Folder will not be available on user devices or the web platform, including areas such as the data feed and the data entry table view. |
| Restrict To Group | Restrict access to a specific User Group. This only allows access to users in the selected group. Users in this Group will also be able access all items that are not assigned to any Groups. Users with a level of Administrator and higher override these restrictions entirely and are able to access all content in all groups. Users below Administrator level (read/read write users) will not have access to content in groups they are not assigned to. |
| Restrict To Users | Restrict access to the nominated users. The nominated users are granted access in addition to any specified User Groups in the Restrict To Group field above. |
Once you’ve made changes, hit SAVE for immediate effect after the app has synced.
