Installing the app on Windows 7/8 (Legacy Support)

This article details what you need to install to run our app on Windows 7/8 and some tips on troubleshooting issues you might encounter. These requirements apply exclusively to the installation of our app on Windows 7/8.

If you’re using a more recent version, Windows 10/11 app installations might be interesting.

While Microsoft has stated:

We will continue to provide support for our app on Windows 7/8 for as long as possible.

Geolocation functionality DOES NOT work in our app running on Windows 7/8. If you require geolocation functionality, running our app on Windows 10/11 is the only solution.


Requirements

Before you install our Windows app on Windows 7/8, please ensure you install the requisite software on your device.

  1. Install .NET Framework 4.5
    Download it here and run the installer.
  2. Install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 
    Download it here and run the installer.
  3. Install .NET 6 Desktop Runtime
    Download it here and run the installer. Be sure to select the correct version for your device, i.e., x86 or x64, depending on its requirements.
  4. Install ALL Security Updates
    Please ensure that your operating system has all the latest security updates installed; this is necessary for the app to work correctly.

Troubleshooting

If you attempt to install our app and get errors, here is a list of common mistakes and fixes.

The error messages below will be encountered as pop-up messages when you have not installed all of the prerequisite software necessary to run our app on Windows 7/8.

Download it here, install it, and then retry installing our Windows app.
“The program can’t start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”You didn’t install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.

Download it hereinstall it, and then retry the installation of our Windows app.
“You must install .NET Desktop Runtime to run this application.”You didn’t install the .NET Desktop Runtime correctly.

It is critically important that you download and install the correct version for your device, i.e., either x86 or x64.

Download it here, install it, and then retry installing our Windows app.

If the app installation process was successful but does not seem to open, it could be because the security updates are not the latest version. Please ensure your device is running the latest security update and try again.
